Mr Bennett was appointed CEO of AIX in May 2018. He was most recently CEO of NZX, the operator of New Zealand’s securities and derivatives markets and provider of trading, post-trade and data services. Mr. Bennet led NZX through a period of significant organizational and regulatory change, including the replacement and upgrading of NZX’s trading and clearing systems, and the launch of 23 ETF’s through NZX Funds Management.
Prior to joining NZX, Mr. Bennett was a Partner with Oliver Wyman and the Boston Consulting Group in Asia.
Mr. Bennett has an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a B.C.A from Victoria University of Wellington.
Sam Wan is Deputy CEO of AIX. Mr. Wan oversees development of the China Market, and the Belt and Road initiative development in AIX.
Prior joining AIX Mr. Wan served as Deputy Director of Global Business Development Department at Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) in charge of international promotion for а share market, and international cooperation related to the “Belt and Road” initiative. Mr. Wan also worked as Deputy Director of Derivatives Department at SSE in charge of market promotion, market makers management, market participants management and operations management of SSE 50 ETF option, which is the first exchange-traded stock option in Mainland China.
Mr. Wan has graduated from the Nanjing University, where he earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Management degrees. He also acquired an MBA from the University of Cambridge. Mr. Wan is a CFA Charter Holder since 2012.
Timur Abushkin has more than 15 years of experience working with investment banks, exchanges and fintech startups. Before joining the AIX, Timur held key management positions in a number of fintech startups, such as Tokenomica, a platform offering digital assets in Singapore and Xena Exchange, an innovative digital asset exchange in London.
Prior to that he worked with JP Morgan in equity sales and as Head of Sales of the RTS Stock Exchange (later the Moscow Exchange after a merger with the MICEX).
Timur Abushkin began his career in the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, where he participated in the development of the debt management policy, was directly involved in the Paris club prepayments in 2005 and 2006 worth $40bn, and coordinated international rating agencies on Russian sovereign credit ratings.
Mr. Abushkin graduated from the Russian Economic University.
Mr. Renat Bekturov, ex-Head of Asset management development department of AIFC Authority. He has over 10 years of experience in financial services industry. Prior to joining AIFCA he was head of Treasury at the National Investment Corporation of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
Mr. Bekturov also worked at the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and was involved in number of the landmark debt capital market transactions, such as first Sukuk issue in CIS region.
Renat holds MSc degree in Banking and Finance with Distinction from University of Leicester and is a CFA Charter holder.
Mr. Tastanbekov is a lawyer with extensive experience in capital markets, M&A, oil & gas and mining industries.
He has worked for over 17 years as associate and partner with prominent international law firms and as country chief counsel for a FTSE100 company.
Arman holds an LLB (with honors) from Kazakh State Law University and an LL.M. from American University Washington College of Law, Washington, DC, USA. He is admitted to practice law in Kazakhstan and the State of New York, USA.
Valerii is an IT manager with extensive experience in banking, FinTech, innovative IT solutions and financial industry as a whole.
He has over 20 years of IT management experience, developing comprehensive IT solutions and IT Operation in prominent international bank and financial companies in many European countries as well as China and Kazakhstan.
Valerii as a COO and partner in a financial company in China has successfully implemented innovative financial IT solutions for Operational Risk management based on Artificial Intelligence and Big Data.
He was approved by CBRC (China Banking Regulatory Commission) as an Executive Committee Member and by NBK as a bank Board Member.
Valerii has Master degree, Ukrainian State Chemical Technology University.
Olivier Gueris is a C-level Operations & Risk Management Executive with over twenty-five years of international experience within the Exchange industry.
After 7+ years as COO of Qatar Stock Exchange, crowned with an upgrade from Frontier to Emerging Market from MSCI, FTSE and S&P, Mr. Gueris moved on to Kazakhstan where he initially advised the Astana International Financial Centre to set up Astana International Exchange (AIX) and become the financial hub of Central Asia and beyond.
Prior to joining AIX, Olivier Gueris was the COO at Qatar Stock Exchange and held senior management positions at Turquoise MTF, Boston Options Exchange (BOX), the Australian Derivatives Exchange (ADX) and Euronext Paris.
Mr. Gueris holds a BA degree in Law from Université Panthéon Assas (Paris II).
