The Astana International Exchange (AIX) is pleased to announce the appointment of Timur Abushkin as Head of Markets. Timur has had more than 15 years of experience working with investment banks, exchanges and fintech startups. Before joining the AIX, Timur held key management positions in a number of fintech startups, such as Tokenomica, a platform offering digital assets in Singapore and Xena Exchange, an innovative digital asset exchange in London. Prior to that he worked with JP Morgan in equity sales and as Head of Sales of the RTS Stock Exchange (later the Moscow Exchange after a merger with the MICEX).
At AIX, Timur will lead the Markets team which is responsible for managing AIX’s relationships with brokers and institutional investors, prospective and current issuers, and for market and product development.
Timur graduated from the Russian Economic University, began his career in the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, where he participated in the development of the debt management policy, was directly involved in the Paris club prepayments in 2005 and 2006 worth $40bn, and coordinated international rating agencies on Russian sovereign credit ratings. In all, Timur managed to raise over $15 billion for various organizations.

AIX. Astana International Exchange (AIX) was formed in 2017 as part of the development of the Astana International Financial Centre, AIFC. On the 14th November 2018, the first trading session on AIX has been launched by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. AIFC. The AIFC was established on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. In December 2015 President Nazarbayev approved the Constitutional Statute “On the Astana International Financial Centre” (AIFC).
